Meat and Cheese!

Fancied a low maintenance evening tonight after throwing a Chinese dinner party for 6 last week so decided to nip and get some cured meats and cheese for tea to prepare us for the upcoming holiday which will be starting out in Northern Spain, South France and Lake Como.

In order to try and save a bit of cash I went to Lidl but discovered that this was EXACTLY the right place to go for a large selection of meats – and not just because it is cheap!

I bought,

Vintage Somerset Cheddar
Soft Cheese with spicy chilli
Hot and spicy cheese slices – which were actually from the pound shop!!
Jamon Serrano slices
La Truffelle ( Smoked salami with camembert and truffle)
Coppa Piacentina
Salame Piacentino
Pancetta Piacentina
Pate Negra – I have just had a taste of this and it is amazing!

I have also added some sundried tomatoes, one of my favourite foods in the world! some pepadew peppers, tiny red peppers, chilli’s stuffed with cream cheese, Green olives and a bottle of Shiraz Cab Sav! Although a Chateauneuf du Pape would have been nice 😉

I have not even started eating yet as I am waiting for the other half to have a bath but my mouth is watering.

Seriously – get yourself to Lidl!
